1-2-3-4 Cake Recipe at Cooking.com

I made this tonight for a friend's birthday tomorrow. I also made a buttercream frosting and dyed it light purple. The filling is a homemade lemon curd. This recipe is the exact same one I have in a birthday cake cook book, but I was too lazy to type it out. LOL. The cake just came out of the oven. It smells great!!! This is only my 2nd time making a cake from scratch and so far it's going well. I will take a picture of the finished product and let you know how it tasted tomorrow.

I love 1-2-3-4 cake because I can make it without pulling out a cookbook!

Never heard of this cake. It's usually 1234 bites and the cake is all gone.

OOPs I forgot to take a picture and post it. It was delicious but I am disappointed on how the lemon curd turned out. It did not thicken and I really should have let it sit overnight in the fridge before using it as a filling. It was still good and gave the cake a nice lemon flavor.

Any cake that doesn't require processed foods is a winner to me!

It's called this because that's the amounts of the main ingredients:

1 cup of each dairy (butter and milk)
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
4 eggs

Of course you have a bit of salt, baking powder, extract

Any of your cake shops that sell decorating supplies will have it. About $13 for a 3 lb tub here in San Antonio at Lucy's Cake Shop. Just google your zip code and closest cake supply store and you should have no problem finding it.

I'm not a cake baker or eater but I was in Target the other day for the first time in a long time and I noted that Duff from the Food Network has a line of cakes and frostings in WILD colors. Kids would love them. I, too, would never use shortening, only butter.
