Now that I bought a jar from Spenzeys I have to figure out what to use it on. Anyone use it. Is it one of those spices that you can use on almost anything?

Oh, no, I would not use it on "almost anything." Very distinctive flavor. We use it mostly for the meat mixture in stuffed deep fried Won-tons. I suggest that you lick your finger slightly, dip it and taste and you will see what I mean. Use also in sauces for stir-fry dishes such as chicken and pork with vegetables. It's also used in Thai dishes, but I don't try to cook Thai.

I have a jar too, and I've only used it for one dish, sesame chicken. It was delicious:

I use it with roasted duck with a black tea rub, it is very distinctive and noticeable.

I use it on pork roast (as a rub); you can also add it to tea for a very spicy blend; and it is GREAT in apple pie vs the normal spices you add.

If you like spices, you can really do a lot with this potent blend besides just the normal "Chinese food" recipes.

I use it in several recipes after getting a copy of 'Simply Ming' as a gift from my wife several years ago. I like it but I don't always put as much as the recipe calls for (I also usually 'short' ginger in recipes).
