By spice up I mean making it tastier. It is sort of bland sometimes which is normal for oatmeal, I think.
What about cranberries? Can one buy frozen cranberries and put them in the oatmeal as the oatmeal is warming up? Any other suggestions.

Margarine, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon and brown sugar--usually

Sometimes--
pancake syrup
cranberry sauce
applesauce
nuts

I tried adding pumpkin once and chocolate another time. Hated it.

I love it with chopped pecans and diced dried fruits, usually apricots.

I like brown sugar and cinnamon. Lately, I use frozen blueberries (which are thawed). Sliced banana is also good. I also like oatmeal on the creamier side, it tastes better to me that way. Therefore, I cook it with nonfat milk instead of water.

Cinnamon, raisins, sweetener, and served with a pat of butter on top. Also oddly enough a pinch of salt added near the end of cooking rolled oats improves it more than you'd think, if added together with the other ingredients.

Pecans or walnuts for special occasions.
