If I'm putting raw garlic in something that is not being cooked, like a dip, I just mince it up very fine. Are you talking about eating a whole clove or something?
We finely dice the garlic in salads or add on top of lentil soups or pasta sauce to get a fresh dose of it.Sometimes we eat a clove with bread and wash it down with water.
Some acid and fats will help mellow out the sharp bite of garlic. Like lemon, lime, olive oil etc.
