If I'm putting raw garlic in something that is not being cooked, like a dip, I just mince it up very fine. Are you talking about eating a whole clove or something?

We finely dice the garlic in salads or add on top of lentil soups or pasta sauce to get a fresh dose of it.Sometimes we eat a clove with bread and wash it down with water.

I mince it and use it and Dijon mustard as a base for lots of salad dressings, either vinaigrette or creamy.

Grate it on a microplane, mix with olive oil and herbs and dip some nice crusty bread into it..

Some acid and fats will help mellow out the sharp bite of garlic. Like lemon, lime, olive oil etc.
