I would like to know how it is done. What I am thinking is making a batch of popcorn and then with a spray bottle filled with maple syrup warmed up on the stove spray the popcorn with that. Any ideas?

I make it all the time- I love it!

This is the recipe I use (I'm sure there are others). I cut it in half because it makes a lot! I also skip the step of baking it, as I like mine chewy.

Maple syrup is totally different than caramel and it will not taste good at all or like caramel popcorn.. Caramel is not hard to make and then you toss the popped corn in it.Easy Caramel Sauce Recipe : Ree Drummond : Food Network

Unless you cook your maple syrup first with a measured recipe which uses baking soda chances are good you will end up with a soggy, sticky mess.

I doubt very much that you could get maple syrup to spray out of a spray bottle.

But I like maple syrup and I like your idea. Maybe you can find a legit recipe for maple syrup crunchy corn online.

Agree with Lodestar, maple syrup out of a spray bottle will be a sticky, ooey mess.

Carmel Corn couldn't be easier.

While your popcorn is popping, 3 tablespoons unpopped in a popper, heat two tablespoons butter in a saucepan at medium heat. Add brown sugar, about a tablespoon until desired consistency. If you want to use maple syrup, substitute for brown sugar.

Pour over popped popcorn.

I think you are trying to make it harder than it is.
