I started looking at fruit salad recipes and some of them have 10 or more items. I might as well fix a whole meal for the time it would take to put that all together just to make a nice snack out of a fruit salad. So I mean something simple like maybe 5 or 6 different items that are convenient to purchase: nothing I am going to have to run across town to get. Any ideas?

Whatever fruits you like to eat. If there are 3 of them, use those. If there are 7 of them, use those.

Just be aware that some fruits (bananas and especially pineapple come to mind) will "bleed" their flavors quite heavily on the other fruits.

This one isn't all fruit - but it's one of my favorite. 2 medium apples chopped, 2 ribs celery chopped, 1/2 cup raisins, 3/4 cup walnuts and add 1/2 cup halved red grapes if you are so inclined. Dressing is 1 cup mayo and 1-2 TBSP lemon juice.

Yeah, a fruit salad is something that you don't really need a recipe for. Aside from things like bananas and strawberries that get mushy quickly, you can't really go wrong with whatever you want.

Strawberries with a good balsamic vinegar and black pepper on a bed of greens? Does that qualify as a 'fruit salad'? I think it might.

Chicken and grapes (and celery for crunch) with a mayonnaise dressing? Yes, it is a chicken salad but it also contains fruit.

If you want just a 'fruit salad' with no greens, vegetables, meat ... just (as posters above me said) chop up whatever fruit you want/have on hand, perhaps sprinkle with a bit of lime juice and/or add some mint (and maybe some honey if required) and enjoy. No recipe required.

The simplest: blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. Wash them in their plastic containers, dump them in a bowl, eat.

We love fruit salads..
Apple, banana, pear, orange and green grape slices, roasted almonds,a bit of fresh lemon juice and vanilla sugar ( or plain sugar)

In summer a variety of berries with lemon or orange juice and vanilla sugar.

Or a grapefruit , orange, clementine salad with orange juice and vanilla sugar.

Add shredded coconut to the fruit salad ..very tasty

I like to take a base of mixed baby greens and add fruit and nuts to it, with a dressing like poppyseed, or a strawberry or raspberry vinaigrette.
So, I will sugar some pecans and toss them in with the greens, with whatever fruit I want.
