I made this simple 'Chili Mac' recipe last night and it needs something to give it some flavor and I don't know what to add. this is the recipe: 2 packages of macaroni and cheese
can of dices tomatoes
1 pound ground beef
1 package taco seasoning
salt and pepper

As you can see it is a simple recipe but definitely needs something to give it some pickup in flavor. Any suggestions? Onions? Maybe some spices?

More seasoning. Those seasoning envelopes are for the pound of meat alone. Adding tomatoes and TWO mac and cheese boxes needs way more spice.

OP, you keep asking the same question for everything you make. Why not just play around with spices yourself to see what you like.

Get yourself a jar of chili powder - as stated, those packets don't have much flavor and they are only for a small amount IMO. Add chili powder to taste - also a couple shakes of red pepper flakes, a couple dashes of hot sauce...... yum.

Carmelize some onions. Proceed as you did. Add chili powder to taste. Open a can of chopped chili peppers & drain. Toss those in.
