I made a few loaves of pumpkin bread today and am trying to figure out how to decide portion sizes. I've found a few great sites that will give me total calories based on the weight of the bread. I definitely want to know what the calorie count is, however I need to figure out how many grams should be in each portion. Writing this feels like one of those horrible math test questions from high school. Heck, I still use my fingers to count at times! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Get a cheap calculator. Just take the total calories in the loaf and divide by the number of slices you want to get from it.
If you are using typical loaf pans, make each slice an inch wide and divide accordingly.
Use a recipe analyzer. You enter all the ingredients in your recipe and you put in the amount of servings you believe you initially have. Then calculate the nutrition. If you think it's too high per serving, you can change the serving size until you get a number that you're comfortable with. You portion out your food accordingly.
Enjoy the pumpkin bread, then take a long autumnal walk.
