I add slices/pieces of avocado to my salads and this addition FOR ME makes it so much more tastier. Some times pieces of ham or salami. Some times a couple spoons of baked beans if I have some open.

Maybe dried cranberries, or sunflower seeds?

pepper - cold cooked shrimp - cold chicken - steak strips - crisp sweet apple wedges - sliced avacodo - whole almonds - seasoned croutons - hard boiled egg quarter or sliced - fresh crispy bacon broken up ( not a fan of old bacon bits ) - shredded parm cheese is my cheese preference - gold fish crackers for crunch - diced ham

The options are endless ... I eat a lot of salads and there ain't too many things I wont slam into a salad

A little salt maybe, or any of the salty suggestions above.

To make it tastier I would add things like:
spinach or artisan lettuce instead of plain old iceberg or romaine lettuce
black olives
shredded bacon
walnuts
cucumbers
apple
garbanzo beans
beets
radishes
green, red, yellow or orange peppers
broccoli slaw
chopped up brussel sprouts
red or green onions/scallions
black pepper or red pepper flakes
seasoned croutons or I buy these and it adds just enough extra punch and crunch to my salads:

My husband prefers chow mein noodles as a salad garnish, versus croutons.

Tasty in a salad:

Candied walnuts
Mandarin orange segments
Dried fruits (cranberries, cherries, raisins, etc.)
Toasted nuts like pine nuts or hazelnuts
Crumbled cheeses like bleu or Gorgonzola
Crumbled bacon
Sliced fruits like apple, pear or raspberry
Chopped herbs like chive, dill or cilantro
Flavored vinegar and infused oil in place of bottled dressing

You never mentioned any lettuce or greens - did you have a salad base?
