Just splurged on a $300 Cuisinart 14 cup food processor however my repertoire of what to do with it is relegated to coleslaw, any one got some ideas i can use?
It's good at grating cheese or carrots (and other veg like potatoes) with the shredding blade, though I seldom do it. I chop most of my vegetables by hand as it's so easy to accidentally pulverize things too small in the processor.
I use mine mostly with the chopping blade to make delicious pesto sauce in the summer, and also the dressing for this chicken & vegetable pasta salad I like which has a yogurt-herb-garlic dressing.
You could also do a nice smooth & spicy peanut sauce in there which is wonderful in summer on cold noodles with chicken and cucumbers.
It's also great at chopping a big batch of onions with minimal tears.
Use the pulse button more than the on button when doing something like onions, so you don't turn them to liquid.
Also don't do mashed potatoes in there unless you're trying to make wallpaper paste.
Be careful when tossing onions in the food processor. They can really turn bitter. The worst salsa I've ever eaten was created by tossing all of the ingredients in a food processor (onions, tomatoes, garlic, green pepper, jalapeno). It was a bitter mess. I also put onions processed in a food processor on my hot dog. Yuck! Again, they were very bitter.
Any pastry that needs to be made with chilled shortening and a pastry cutter can be whipped up in seconds with a food processor. Lemon squares, pecan pie bars, etc. Huge time, energy, and fuss saver.

Yep. There was a place at the beach that claimed to specialize in salsas. That was where we tried the food processor salsa. I wonder why they weren't there the next year?

I make great salsa and hot sauces in the blender or food processor. It’s different than pico, of course, but sometimes I want a smoother product.
I’m mystified by your bad salsa experience...
