...not the usual kind that are yellow. These are cream-colored, I think they might have sour cream in them. Crumb-type crust. I don't believe they are a cheesecake-type filling.

There is a local restaurant (that I don't go to) that sends their leftover desserts to a food pantry where I volunteer. That is how I have tasted them. They are addictive.

Anyone have a recipe that sounds similar?

I do not. I always use the Krusteas mix.
I do, however, make a cake lemon filling that is 1 10 oz jar of lemon curd mixed with 1/3 cup sour cream. It could work for lemon squares.

Try this one? It's usually a hit

Easy Lemon Bars

BASE:
1 Pkg. Pillsbury Moist Supreme Lemon Cake Mix
1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 eg

TOPPING:
1 can Pillsbury Lemon Frosting
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 egg

Heat oven to 350 - Grease and flour 13"x9" pan. In large bowl, combine cake mix, margarine and egg at low speed until crumbly. Press in greased and floured pan.

In small bowl, combine frosting, cream cheese and egg at low speed until well blended, beat at high speed until smoooth. Pour over base.

Bake at 350 for 40-50 mins. until edges are light golden brown and center firm to the touch. Cool completely. Store in refrigerator.

It is good - I've had many ask for the recipe. (It can be a little hard at some stores to find the lemon cake mix and frosting...)

VT don't be silly just ask. There is a group of dedicated volunteers here that do weekly food rescue and they will often get requests for a receipe and they are only too happy to share. Just say you have had a request and see if they will share it.

The restaurant might have a menu on their website. If you find out what they are called, it might help in the search.

Maybe it is a lemon cheesecake and not a lemon bar.
