I started to do that in everything that it could be done in but now I can't find it in any grocery stores and I don't know why they don't carry it. But that is beside the point. The point is that chef believed it added to anything he made. What do you think.

I think his taste buds are weird. I don't even add salt to everything.
Star anise is used primarily in Vietnamese and Chinese cooking.

Anyway, got link to your statement?

I just used some for some mulled wine. While it smells wonderful, I can't imagine using it in everything.

BTW--whoever said they can't find it--don't know if you have any Asian groceries or stores that sell small quantities of spices, but you might have success there. I bought 3 stars at Fresh Thyme earlier this week. Some place like Sprouts or Trader Joe's (don't know as we don't have one) might have it.

My friend’s Italian husband puts it in his chili.

I've seen it as an ingredient for stews...

I use it when I make Beef Pho. That's it.

I buy it at H Mart. You can get it at any Asian grocery.
