Someone gave us a nice one as a gift. I'm not sure I'll be using it to roast chicken that often, so I was wondering if there are any other uses for it?

Since you only got one, not much else you could use it for, but maybe drape some narrow strips of meat on it like bacon and roast it?

The whole idea of a vertical chicken roaster is that you can load more chickens into one oven ...
besides getting a good crispy skin on the bird.

How would I get the steak to stay on the vertical rack?

Clothes pins?

I really can't think of any uses for it. Maybe one of those really small turkeys, or for roasting hard skinned squash or pumpkins? Roasting whole rabbits? Pheasants?

I don't roast whole chickens, but if someone gave me one of those vertical roasters, I'd use it to cook a whole chicken on the barbecue grill, like people use beer cans to prop up a whole chicken to make beer can chicken.

Is it a stand alone appliance or something you put into an oven? Answering your question would be a lot easier if we knew exactly what you have.

Make your own shawarma/doner/kebab/gyro at home!!!

I also roast meat on the rotisserie. Roast beef is fantastic! But you can roast just about any meat you wish.

It doesn't really matter much if your roaster is vertical or horizontal. I like the vertical more because the juices run down along the roasted meat (and make it moist) vs dripping directly down the pan.
