I am trying to be healthy and save money on cereals - the good organic ones are sooo expensive. And it is hard to find good oat cereals, with no wheat.

So, this morning I got a big skillet, toasted a couple of handful of sesame seeds, flax seeds and sunflower seeds, added some dessicated coconut, got them all good and toasty, then threw in a couple of cups of good organic oats, toasted it some more - then added about 1/4 cup of maple syrup and kept mixing until it was all mixed in. Leave it to cool and it goes all crunchy, like granola but not in big clumps.

Then in the bowl, on with some skimmed milk - it was gorgeous.

I didn't have any dried fruit but a chopped banana on top was good.

Does anyone have any more muesli or breakfast ideas?

I found a very tasty oatmeal recipe. You pour 1 cup skim milk (or other) in a pan and bring it to a boil, while stirring so it doesn't burn. Then, you add 1/2 cup of oats and 1 tbsp of ground flax. If you used quick oaks, stir it for one minute then take it off the heat and let it sit for another minute. It may need longer if they're old fashioned oats. Pour into a serving bowl and top with blueberries, walnuts, and a drizzle of honey if desired. Of course, any other fruit and/or nuts can be substituted. I found this recipe a few days ago and have made it the past two days.
