My excuse is that I'm waiting for a few more tomatoes to get ripe. LOL

Well today I am going to do 4 berry jam. If I don't do it now, the berries will be so spoiled the birds won't even eat them. Then I think my canning equiptment might be put away for a few months. I will do more in the fall I am sure. Right now, the garden is awful and the price of most things are out of line, making it not only not profitable to can, but down right stupid. I don't expent to save a fortune, but I don't want to end up in the poor house either.

Found some huge zucchini at 5/$1, so I made some faux pineapple. There was enough pineapple juice leftover to make a pina colada.

yesterday I did the last of the canning for awhile and put away all my canning stuff. I know spoiled brat loves eating what I do, but is glad to have the kitchen somewhat back to normal.

I did nothing but pickling:

6 pints of hot and spicey dills
6 pints of basic kosher dills
4 pints spicey sweet and sour pickles
3 pints and 3 1/2 pints wine pickled jalapenos.

I don't plan on doing much else. I have frozen a lot of green beans lately and will do blueberries if they go on sale, but it is pretty late for that.

I think I need to try this!
I usually do most of my canning in the fall but I started yesterday. My stepdaughter is getting married in October and she asked if I would can for her favours. Now I am highly flattered but it's a lot on top of what I usually do. She asked for half salsa and half apple butter. Unfortunately I have developed psoriasis on my hands and making salsa is brutal. I made a batch using gloves, it slowed me down quite a bit but I will get used too it, I guess! The apple butter will be a piece of cake and it makes the house smell so wonderful!
I was thinking of suggesting champagne jam to her but I have never made it. Have any of you? Is it fairly straightforward? And most importantly does it taste good?

I sure hope she's helping you!

I've never made jelly with wine or champagne. I keep meaning to try it.

Couldn't rep you again...too soon!
She is taking my boys apple picking. That's as much help as I want from her. No offense to her but she is frustratingly bad at even the most simple cooking chores. Her dad will help with the chopping. He is actually the one who taught me how to cook almost twenty years ago.
I am going to try a test run with the champagne soon. I will report back my findings!

Hello fellow canners this is the 2nd summer of no garden and city living so I haven't canned a thing. I have 2 pints of cubed ham & 2 pints of zuke relish left in my cupboards after that all home canned products will be gone.

Just have to live through y'all's conquests I reckon hope y'all are doing well.
