I'm going to a Potluck Friday evening and need a side dish for chicken and hot dogs !! I have about 6 cans of black, red and pink beans and would love to make some sort of side dish with them.

Does anyone have a good Baked Beans recipe or Canned Beans recipe that would use different kinds of beans and that is easy to take to someone elses' home and either reheat in the microwave or have in a crockpot???

I really need some ideas by Friday morning, otherwise I will be using your tips for future invites !!!! TIA!

I think I would be inclined to make bean salad. Add some green beans and yellow wax beans, some chopped pimento and sliced onion. Not everyone does, but I prefer to rinse the beans. I think it keeps the flavors cleaner. I mix equal parts of oil and vinegar, and half as much sugar for the dressing. Make it up today, and refrigerate overnight so everything has a chance to marry. A colorful and delicious side dish. And no cooking to heat up your kitchen!

My hubby makes a really yummy Chili, but he just throws stuff in the pot & I don't have it written down...here's a good one I found though: Cooks Recipes | Vegetarian Three-Bean Chili Recipe ...I think it would be a good one for a crockpot.

Now I'm hungry, lol.

btw, I think I'm the only Boo....tried to DM you, but couldn't...must be these new fancy features, lol. Have a good day & good luck with your pot luck!

1: take a can of pork and beans in tomato sauce like campbell's , a can of new england style baked beans, a can of kidney beans drained and one of butter beans drained(gotta have the butter beans) can also use the white kidneys and/or gabonzo beans also drained.

2: fry up about a pound of ground beef with onions and mix in with the beans

3. mix in brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar to taste (like barbeque flavor) a little mustard can go in here oh and some worchestershire sauce
4: put in casserole and put strips of bacon over it....bake till bubbly...

It tastes best if you can let it cool and then re-heat!
Different beans...but maybe this would work! Everything works with Bacon!!

I'd go with the bean salad, too...pretty much as given above. Sometimes to jazz it up a bit I add canned mushrooms, bell pepper (chopped or sliced), cheese, bacon, and some fresh herbs (basil, summer savory, parsley, or thyme) to it as well.

I`ll give you my baked bean recipe anyway, just for fun.

Fry up several slices of bacon. Drain grease, except for about a Tbsp.
sautee` onion in this until soft.
Pour in pork and beans, musturd, ketchup, worcestire, brown sugar, and a hint of cinnamon.
Bake, and add crumbled bacon, last 20 min.
