I was doing a quick meal the other day and tossed a skinless piece of salmon in the pan. A friend of mine likes to use a splash of white wine and some capers, so I was going to try to do the same. I grabbed a bottle from the pantry and the capers from the fridge. When I sat down to eat, it was one of the worst things I had ever tasted. I later realized that I had grabbed White Wine Vinegar

The bottle had White Wine in large letters, with Wine underneath in smaller letters. Guess that's what I get for cooking without my glasses! I think that is a mistake I won't make twice.

Yuk ...makes my mouth pucker up...not a vinegar fan.

Oops, you made quite a mistake. Keep your glasses closeby, it only gets worse
over time!

Sorry about that salmon...

When I saw the title of this thread, I shuddered and thought "oh crap. Another one who is freaking out about additives, preservatives, salt, sugar, fructose syrup, etc being added to their food."

Thank you for not going down that road. Sorry about the salmon. But at least you had extra white wine to enjoy.

I'd think the smell of the vinegar would be a big clue, but it's a helpful tip nonetheless.

You probably thrown it out by now, but in future, just add a generous amount of sugar and you can turn it into sweet and sour sauce. I'm not sure how it goes with salmon, but I see recipes for sweet and sour made with fish, so it should be ok on salmon.

LOL I might have liked it, as I love vinegars.

I love vinegar and hate salmon.

Nothing like a nice sauerbraten roast.
