I love a good chicken cheesesteak from the local sub shop, but I don't feel like paying almost 8 dollars for one. I would love to make them at home....would be so much cheaper.
I like my chicken cheeseteaks with lettuce, tomato, provolone cheese and lots of fried onion on a toasted sub roll....little mayo too.
My question is...what spices should I use when cooking the chicken (I plan on baking the chicken then, when it's cooled, shred/chop in in a pan with the fried onions before plating). The chicken from the sub shop is so flavorful, but I can't place what the spices/flavorings are I am tasting.
I use McCormick Fajita seasoning in chicken alot, its not a heavy
flavor. Its composed of salt, pepper, garlic [but not heavy] and
a little lime, a nice light seasoning.
Thanks for the suggestions! I was thinking about this chicken thing when I was in the bath tonight (weird, I know...lol) and was wondering how good a rotisserie chicken from Sams Club would be...pick the chicken off the bone, shred it up and put it in a fry pan with onions.

Good idea. The chicken is fully cooked already so the minimum amount of time is key. If you buy the chicken, bring it home and make it immediately thus not putting it in the fridge, I wouldn't cook the chicken at all. Saute your onions, shred the chicken, put in a zip top bag with spices and nuke it for 20 seconds...
