One of my favorite ways to eat chili - on a baked potato with onions and cheddar cheese. Sometimes a dollop of sour cream if I have it on-hand.

Crock Pot Pork and Sauerkraut

1 14 oz can sauerkraut
1 2-3 lb boneless pork shoulder
salt, pepper
2 T Dijon-style mustard
1 C beer

Place sauerkraut at bottom of crock pot. Trim fat from meat. Sprinkle w/ salt and pepper. Spread mustard over meat and place meat on top of sauerkraut. Pour beer over meat. Cover and cook on low heat setting 8-10 hours or high setting 4-5 hours.
I made kielbasa with sauerkraut in the crockpot and it was fine and smelled like sauerkraut. Did it taste good?? Sauerkraut does have an off putting smell when cooked. next time add 2 peeled diced granny smith apple to it. Was the sauerkraut expired???

Thanks, lubby. You're right, it probably did just smell like cooked sauerkraut. I had just bought the can. However, next time I'll add the apple. The meal was very good otherwise!

Next time buy the sauerkraut in the bag where they sell the hot dogs it's better. That's what I use.

Roast.
Golden mushroom soup mixed with Lipton's Beefy Onion soup mix.
Baby carrots.
Cook on low all day.
You then make gravy out of the soups.
You can add cut up red potatoes to the above and cook them, too.

Meatballs.
Red sauce.
All day on low.

Honey ham bone with a fair amount of meat left on it.
Navy beans.
Soak and boil beans.
All day on low.
Becomes really thick so add the bean water.

Pork loin.
Sauerkraut.
All day on low.

Goose or duck breast.
Golden mushroom soup.
Celery.
Cook 3 or 4 hours on high, the rest of the day on low for goose. Makes them fall apart.
Duck, all day on low.
Discard liquid.
Serve with brown rice.

Nope did not have any, I had to go out after work and buy grated cheese. This pecorino Romano was very creamy tasting and grated in the store by Pathmark. I will be buying it again.

Yesterday, I put an inexpensive roast, a package of au jus gravy mix, an onion, some garlic, 3 cups of water, and a can of beef broth in the crockpot and cooked it all day. I shredded the beef and served it on buttered, toasted sourdough rolls with the sauce on the side for dipping. Easy and delicious!
