Default Canning Question

Ok, I have a question.
My wife made a batch of Grape Jelly, but we believe she over cooked it. (it is not setting up, Been 5 days so far) so? is there anyway to repair the process?
Can she recook and add more pectin? Should she make another batch and add a portion of the previous to the new batch?
Any suggestions would help.

Thanks

Sounds like to much pectin or didn't boil it enough. Here is a link that gives you step by step instructions to fix your jelly.

How to Fix (or Remake) Jam or Jelly That Turns Out Too Soft or Runny

Good luck let us know how it turned out.

Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for jelly to set up.

And sometimes you have jars of very delicious pancake syrup.

I agree and I also agree that if the flavor is right, it might just be good syrup.

Okay.....now this is going to sound really off the wall here.....but hey....it works and it's great. Minute tapioca! Seriously. I just happened to have some in my cupboard years ago and was trying to cut down on my kids' sugar intake. I mean, what's the point in making homemade jams if they're stilling getting sugar straight shots? You can mix up your fruit mixture and believe it or not....use minute tapioca for the thickener instead of pectin...works like an absolute dream...AND it doesn't alter the flavor of your jam/jelly at all. Give it a try...or, as other posters have recommended, make another batch and say...um..I MEANT to make syrup for my pancakes and french toast. LOL
