Doubt it. I usually date men who don't like gifts like that. I have bought other gifts they like before though. It's a nice feeling.

I don't like the idea of cut flowers. A flower is supposed to lead to a seed, so as a man and a gardener, I'd rather have a seed of a great plant than cut flowers...

That said, flowers are beautiful. If a woman knew me well enough to start taking care of a plant that has beautiful foliage, branching, and flowers...
Then I'll know that I had finally found my partner.

My gf brings me home those seasonal Reeses shaped like christmas trees or easter eggs...*Homer Simpson voice* "mmmm, Reeses shaped like an easter egg."

I agree that an unexpected compliment is worth more than a gift..Saying something like "You're the best gf I've ever had" or "Look at'chu, looking all good and sh*t!" will get you some good naked time.

If you do choose to go with an unexpected gift, don't go the necklace or earrings route..Concert tickets (Flaming Lips concert preferably) or something that involves going out works much better.

Surprised buttsecks after breakfast usually dose the trick for my ex. I mean .. how more surprised can you be seeing me half naked with a bottle of lube in my hand and handcuffs in the other right after puting the dishes in the sink ...I can not make this up

It's not so much the physical gift as the 'you were just thinking of me for no reason' that makes it so endearing.

This is sort of silly, and it cost nothing to do but it had the same effect of 'just thinking of you.' One Christmas 7-up had this logo thing on a punch out piece of cardboard about the size of the quarter. We took to hiding it in odd places for the other to find. Sometimes it disappeared for days and then you'd hear a laugh come from another room. From underwear drawers to ice cube trays, this little piece of cardboard sure give us a lot of laughter.

I think the problem with this is that a gesture like this only works in an established relationship, e.g, one wherein you have already won fair lady's heart. Giving an unexpected gift to someone you've met only recently is a surefire way to send them running.
