That's probably because City-Data seems dead.

I don't know how to say the right things with someone, when ever your say something like , "I'm sorry for your loss" or "I'm sorry things worked out that way."

It just sounds sounds so trite and blah.....

Wish I knew what to say sometimes...

Most of the time I don't think they even hear what you're saying anyway.

Besides, I think there's a certain level of comfort derived from hearing something so inane, yet familiar, during a time of stress.

Me? I just say "Sorry about the stiff", grab a few mass cards to sell on eBay and skeedaddle.

In those situations where its best not to say anything, I just give them a big hug and squeeze their butt and sometimes it helps more than words.

A few yrs ago during Christmas break, a day or two after Christmas a guy I worked with and knew pretty well, his son was killed in a car wreck.

I dreaded calling him.... It was an awkward call..... I felt bad for him.

I felt like a fool on the phone trying to console him. He ended up consoling me. LOL

I stuttered and stammered and sounded like Elmer f ing Fudd.

It's understandable... It's not easy... Besides, different people have different needs.
