That "Summer" movie looks good - thanks, Chessie. I like Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I like his choice of movies. He certainly didn't cash in on "Third Rock" to just do commercialized movies.

EDIT: I was just telling Chow, I think I first saw "Mr. Goodbar" on ON TV. Remember that? We just looked it up: Z Channel owned both subscription services, ON TV and SelecTV.
Hey regular ol' broadcast TV is all I have - never needed cable TV. I use Netflix for my movies.

I agree. We wouldn't have cable right now either, we just got it because there's no reception otherwise. I never know what people are talking about when they talk about TV shows. Although, I have to admit the Food Network got me back to cooking again.

We love the Food Network. My SO does all the cooking in our house and he gets very inspired by the cooking shows.

My BF has basic cable, so I have found some favorites, ( no HBO or Showtime but of course I eventually can see those things online, or Netflix.) There are a LOT of cable shows I enjoy, especially on Discovery, History Channel, and the Travel Channel (love those crazy food shows!). I get pretty decent reception here. But my BF simply prefers the variety I guess...not that he's a sports nut, but he's a channel surfer like you wouldn't believe. At my house, he has to settle for a few stations, and whatever movies I've selected. But that works since we don't really watch a whole lot of TV at my house anyway.

I seriously thought about it and realized that was the reason I really got into it again. You really do absorb SO much just my watching it for entertainment. Do you know the stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan? He has a funny bit where he talks about how watching cooking shows is so stupid...unless you're hungry, then it's like porn, LOL.

Exactly. We just have basic. And those ARE the best channels. I like House Hunters, too.

To me, Netflix is the best thing invented. Poor Chow was the one who subscribed and set up the initial queue; now I've completely taken over and I list, and re-list and rearrange, etc., LOL. And I love the streaming service they have now. Like with the Goodbar movie, if it's something he doesn't want to see, I can just watch it myself during the day. Very convenient.

We watch more stuff streaming now, then on regular broadcast TV.

My dad was completely amazed by it. He was staying with me one day after my surgery, and I showed him how it worked. We watched 7 episodes of the old Maverick western. My mom said he talked about it that whole night when he got home! Now I know what us kids are getting them for Christmas.

LOL about your dad. Yeah, we have to be careful about watching a series; before you know it, you're hooked and then it takes up all of your time and all the movies start backing up.

I've noticed a rather large influx of people in this forum who have no sense of humor and seem to be looking for a fight.

It's becoming very tiresome.
