My question for everyone today is, what is the difference between love and infatuation? And can infatuation turn into love?

Infatuation is fleeting and often mistaken as love. Doesn't mean it can't lead to love, but infatuation is more of an illusion without the substance.

Love | Define Love at Dictionary.com

Infatuation | Define Infatuation at Dictionary.com

And of course infatuation can lead to love, that's how most romances begin

Infatuation turns into obsession. Obsession turns people into stalkers. Stalkers turn into psychos. Psychos kill people. Get it? Got it. Good!

Infatuation is loving the idea that you're in love. Being infatuated doesn't mean you have fallen in love but it's a mere illusion in your mind... Love is when you can actually sacrifice yourself for that person....

Infatuation is because of those quirky things
that makes someone 'special'.

Love is in spite of them.

Yes, but not often.

I agree with both of you. It's just projection of one's illusions and hopes on a random person who fits their idea of perfection. It doesn't have to turn into obsession even though occasionally it does. Sometimes it dies a quick death after you open your eyes and see the real person; sometimes it may grow into love, but that's just the luck of the draw, not because a conscious choice has been made beforehand. I particularly resent hearing endless advice from people whose relationships have been started the same way, but just happened to be successful.
