I think the real problem is that it is much easier for a boor to be heard in this day and age than in the past. Any idiot can learn how to use a computer and then it's only a matter of time before he's clogging up websites with his inane drivel.
The culture is simply: "Anything goes"! Sex in any and every form is promoted; commitment, chastity, values and morals minimized. We've all had our wild days, but they seem to be started a lot younger for many young people and become a long-term lifestyle and/or "way of life" vs. a temporary phase.

I think we need to go back to an era where people actually had a little discretion.

Exactly! It is a great culture indeed, live for today, do what makes you feel good and worry about the consequences later! Leech off your parents for as long as you can, and continue to live your "rockstar" lifestyle on their dime. A generation of losers!
