Same here. It is who I am and I don't think there's anything weird about it.

Apparently it's a trade off for a man though. Judging by some of the "men" on this forum, I think I can live with that.

Even though it's meant as a joke, it really isn't, and you know it... It's a sad society in which animals are valued higher than people. Btw, I believe that was promoted deliberately as well with the same agenda (as the stuff on TV we discussed earlier).

Nothing wrong with someone owning a pet, but I wouldn't date him if he's in love with his dog. Definitely a no-no for me. If he loves his pet, I'm cool with it. I probably would to if I own one but I don't, of course. I hope I can get a pet in the future. We shall see.

I agree but to many people their pet is a large part of the family. Ever venture over to the Pet Forum and read about their dogs passing ? It's so tragic to them it's hard to read.

Not accepting someones pet that you are starting to date is equivalent to not accepting their kid. Not sure what would be worse dating someone with an untrained kid or an untrained dog. I take it back, the untrained kid would be worse.

I've dealt with enough pets and pet threads for a lifetime, so I'll just refrain. Most who've been around for a while know what I think about it anyway.

In the outside world the general perception is that Americans look for love in animals coz it does not exist in humans in this part of the world. There is no family, no relatives, no cousins, it's a secluded world with little human interaction (where people interact with even their cars more than their neighbours) where the pet acts as the surrogate for the perfect Dad, mom or boyfriend. It's good for Pets Inc. and Vets Inc.

I can boldly invest in these sectors despite the double dip!

No kidding, it's recession proof LMAO

Even the unemployed guy buys food for his dog before he gets it for himself. He usually skips a meal

I love pets. I adore cats and dogs. But it's just a freaking animal. I'll never value that stupid little thing more than my family, my wife and my children. If I have to choose, doggie gets the boot. The Koreans can come cook it LOL

But hey, I love the vets in my home country. Many a time, they would attend to our dogs for free. They make their money from the government clinics anyway.
