Recently, I was in a class where we had to break off into groups. One of the guys in my group was going through this 20 question routine w/me: when did you go to college? When did you get out of the Air Force? Where do you work? blah blah. I could tell he was fishing for something, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what
Two months later, we are in contact via email. I find out, through his own admission, that he was asking me 20 questions to get me to talk, and that he was "trying to figure something out." When I asked him what this "something" was, he said he was trying to figure out my age, and that you just can't come out and ask someone that question. When I asked him why this fact was important to him, he responded "curiosity, I guess. I suppose it doesn't matter."
What's funny to me is that he could have asked better questions that would have got him the information he was looking for: "What year were you born? When did you graduate high school?" but he didn't. He sort of took the scenic route around the questions.
My question is, why would he want to know this? I can't think of an occasion when I've ever asked someone their age, nor do I care. I just found this a strange thing. Feedback? Opinions? Ideas anyone?
What kinda class? Freshmen? Seeing if you were 18, or 21 maybe? I know a lot of people that age who are older sometimes avoid the younger set because its a problem for going out places.

Good grief, no. We both work on a military base. We were attending a required class for career enhancement, so we were in class with alot of other base employees, both military and civilian. This is a mid to upper career level class, so most people would be in their mid 30s to mid 40s I would say.
