I am so sick of this attention getter question that I now always answer "Yes, you do. Lose 10 lbs." Shuts 'em up or gets them so pissed off at me they never say it near me again.
If I was to ask my husband this question..(even though, I know what the answer is) if nothing else, I would get a kick out of his facial expression.
It would almost be as if I could read his mind, and it would say.." I wanna get laid tonight! No baby. Your not fat.!"

It's like when someone shows you a picture and goes "Here's my picture, I may look a bit weird/ugly but oh well". I do say something like "Hhhhmm you do look a little Iiiii dunno but yeah, interesting pic..." .
I often ask my dh when I'm trying on new clothes whether or not they're flattering. I would rather hear the truth. But I realize most women are like this.
Years ago, back in my single days, my older sister and I were out together at a bar. She was repeatedly asking me if her butt looked big. About the third time, I said yes. She got really mad. I told her, "Well, I said no the first two times but you obviously didn't like THAT answer."
She's never asked me for my opinion on her posterior again.
You know, I honestly dont get why women ask their men a question like this.....theres a thing called a 3 way mirror in the dressing room where you buy the clothes, its your best friend, use it!

It creates drama.
If he says no, then she can be mad about him for lying
If he says yes, she can be mad about him for being honest.
I've never seriously asked a man if I look fat...I have jokingly, more times than I can count.
The only people that I ask when I'm truly feeling insecure about my looks/weight are women. They are far more truthful, as they have fewer motivations to lie.

Desire for drama is the driving factor.
Seriously, I cant even imagine asking ANYONE if I look bad in anything.....thats why I have eyes! (and a 3 way mirror)
