I've made a commitment to remain abstinence until I get married in about 5 years or so. (I'm 17 now.) A couple of my classmates at my school wear one, but I don't know where they got them from. I've seen them online, but I'm a little skeptical about buying things online.
Does anyone know where to buy one or look for one?

Why don't you ask your classmates where they got theirs?
Otherwise, look up jewelry stores or call up a local church and ask for names of shops catering to Christians.
Abstinence until marriage to me is like buying a car without test driving it first. Marrying at 22 is... way too young, imo. That being said - good luck and I hope this works out for you.
The point is a visual reminder of the promise you've made to yourself.
Still seems odd to me. I guess because I'm older than 17, but I don't need a ring to remind me of the personal decision I've made--it's in my head all the time.

It's probably a bit of a reminder to the other person as well. Kind of like a wedding ring--you don't need to wear it to be married, of course, but it's a nice visual reminder of the vows you made.
Regardless, if you don't need/want one, don't get it. It serves a purpose to many though.
I'm looking for a purity ring atm and I found some decent ones online too. I do shop online a lot but I would research the website if I don't know or don't trust. I would buy the expensive ones so you won't have to keep buying them when they rust over time. Yes, do try amazon. Google search and you'll find plenty.
