I wouldn't do much besides curl up into a ball and cry. Maybe pray. I don't think I am a hero, savior, or survivor type. When life gets that scary it's as good as over with.
Deep down I wonder if most of us would, but we're pressured by society/ethics/religion whatever to be altruistic. I mean in nature water buffalo practically trample over each other to get away from danger.
Still I seriously doubt I'd actively kill someone to save my skin. As for sacrificing myself for someone else, again who can really say unless they're confronted with it?
Men are hardwired deep down to do whatever it takes to protect their family. It's an instinctual thing, ever see a man, without thinking, step in front of his woman to save her from something that is thrown at her or an oncoming car or something? A lot of the men in the Aurora shooting did that, shielded their ladies from the shooter with their bodies.
I think I can answer "No" with relative certainty. In 2005 when we were walking down the sidewalk in New York, a delivery truck pulled in front of a taxicab in Soho. The taxicab swerved and jumped the curb, heading straight for us. By sheer reflex, I pushed MrsCPG out of the way behind a tree. If the cab had not rammed into the building, the front bumper missing me by about 18 inches, I'm not sure I'd be writing this today. I was so close that flying shards of glass from the headlamps put nicks all over my legs.
MrsCPG picked herself up, walked over and, after making sure I was okay, said, "You look like you could use a drink." She really did say that, like someone out of a Raymond Carver novel. Holy mackerel, I was so freaked out, I could barely walk the half-block to a bar. My hands were shaking so hard that I could barely hold the glass and resorted to drinking my martini out of a straw. I'm sure casual observers must have wondered what my deal was. Needless to say, I earned major brownie points that day. She still tells the story.

DUDE, we aren't water buffalo. Christ. We are human. And as such, we have the capacity to love. We are set apart. We're different.
Jeez. Did you not ever study this stuff in school???

It's a man thing to protect his woman and family like that. Yup yup.
What about x So's? As i know my x would love it if someone killed me! Of course that would be upsetting to my current bride of 24 years, but somethings just don't die that easy.
