I definitely believe in it. I always enjoy hearing people's stories of how they met and more than once, it was love at first sight especially for those long married couples. I remember all the stories of love at first sight because as the person told me the story I could see that they were no longer there with me but they were back in the moment when becoming lovestruck. Love at first fight, priceless! I think the younger generation with "sex" everything constantly being thrown in front of them, sex sells everything now, really miss what "love" is so the thought of "love" at first sight is lost these days, sadly.
It wasn't lust at our first meeting, but it was.........the Resistol cowboy hat, cowboy boots and Roper jeans she had on that made my go "WOW"!! Then, after her niece seen us do a 2-step together and told her "he's definitely a keeper", I knew right then and there that this was the lady I wanted to spend the rest of my life with!!! OH YES!!!!
I dont know if there is such a thing as love at first sight (being a hopeless romantic I hope it is true though).... But I honestly think it's more lust at first sight if anything. But then I hear stories of love at first sight all the time.
For example my friend's parents story of how they met goes something like this... Her father walked into the wrong dorm room thinking it was his room (this is orientation week freshmen yr ) but he saw his "future wife" and he said that when he saw her he just knew that she was the one...
Has anyone else experienced that?.. Where you looked at the individual and just knew that they were "the one?"
Love at first sight is a myth ; its LUST at first site and if you stay together long enough , a form of real love could start to develop and continues to develop/intensify as two people get to know each other . Love carries with it the connotation of deep commitment ; how can looking at a cover of someone for the first time give you the willingness for deep commitment ? It cannot. The person could be greatly lacking what it takes to respect the person in question ; ive met plenty of good looking women as well as handsome men (no, im not bisexual) ...but inside the cover it dont look so good . Im afraid Hollywood has duped a good many of us with this fairy-tale myth . Alot of it has to do with the Cultures teaching which has many people caught up in worship of looks and worship of the human body. Hope that helps.
