So why are people hypocrites in their relationships, in work relationships, in interpersonal interactions, etc? I'm talking about people who deliberately lead hypocritical lives.

Has anyone ever pondered this and come to any decent conclusions?

I have news for you, there isn't one amongst us who hasn't demonstrated some form of hypocrisy in our lives at one time or another.

Sure hypocrisy can happen. However, I'm talking about people who are constantly hypocritical. My guess is that they get some type of leverage or advantage each time they turn sides.

Perhaps they are unsure of who they are and are trying to fit in?

If it's constant then perhaps they lack character, they want the best of both worlds and are incapable of being honest with themselves, let alone someone else.

Shouldn't this topic be in the Christianity forums?

No. It's not just religious. It's everything.

Because they hold themselves above the standards they set for others.

They're dishonest and immature. It takes courage to be secure with yourself to take a stand and stick by your word. They think that by playing all sides it keeps them from becoming embroiled in the situation to the degree that they won't have to examine themselves.
