I think the bigger problem is people not being discerning enough about their partners and being in love with being in love. I doubt those who are with the right one would want to be single.
No matter what they saym people are not meant to be together. Friends, family, okay, but not life partners. Everyone has different tastes and opinions and partners get in the way of your life goals.
I am 35...and being single rarely bothers me until the holidays (and living away from my parents).
Just meh.
Oddly enough, I enjoy being single most around the holidays. Not having to buy presents, being forced into family obligations and spending time with people I want to avoid etc... Just button down at work, enjoy my music, avoid all retail outlets until the new year.
Well growing up, Christmas was a really big deal. I enjoyed the music, weather and the gifts.
Now I have no one to share that with...so Christmas at best feels emotionally muted, at worst, depressing.
These people don't know how lucky they are to be single, to have freedom, the most important value in the world. And they want to flush their independence down the toilet for a nagging partner that will make them old sooner...
Nah...it's a lesson in human nature. For some reason we are built to not appreciate what we have and we waste our lives away wanting something else. It's sad really...
I would say the 41 year old woman is happier. Material possessions are nice but they do not give you that feeling of contentment. It is a diversion from feeling empty inside. Unfortunately, many will never find love. It is a sad reality.
When I fantasize about a significant other, I always imagine us blissfully happy but of modest means. I guess I like "Little House on the Prairie" too much.

Thumbs up for a drama free life!
I see what you mean, but those are people who choose partners that get in their way. Once again proving that people need to be more discerning about their partners.
