You can only have one subject on your mind at a time and it's up to you what that subject is. Stray thoughts will come and go but as an adult, practically speaking, you're able to quickly refocus on what you want.
My feeling is that as an adult, rather than waste time daydreaming about someone, one would choose to focus on something more productive rather than allow impulses to dictate focus.
Well I understand your point, but to crush IMO is natural to some degree.
I think also is subconscious, since I'd like a relationship at this time. I guess things come to those who are proactive in getting them, so maybe I should heed my own advice.
I'm not a big fan of "pointless"...which is why I've written off the under 25 crowd lol....I need a stated return on investment to everything I do. Blue balls doesn't seem like a positive ROI.... xD
I don't think it's infantile, but how you act on it could be. I've got a little crush on a CD member. Heck, I don't know her real name or what she looks like, but I like the way she thinks and writes. I don't day dream about her and have no intention that it'll go any further than it has already, which is just a quiet admiration for a cool gal.
As an adult, do you crush on people a lot? Is it something that teens do mostly?
"Crushing" is nothing more than a relatively recent term for "being a fan of". The term was most likely coined by a teen. The behavior is nothing new, nor does it pertain to a particular age group. Can't believe you would actually start a post asking this.

I think these two are entirely different animals.
