Sometimes spouses get it when they dont know their partner is cheating.
True. But for some strange reason I don't think I need to worry about that..........

heck no. I suppose I would do so if it were a great guy and a deal breaker... but I'm not paying for it.

People who claim they demand and get testing for everything before starting a sexual relationship... I have the feeling you say you do it but really you don't.

I hope you're right 'cause otherwise I'll have to import somebody not from out of state this time, but from out of the country!

Again, it's probably more expensive at other places.

Also, it takes 3 month for the HIV virus to show. You can't "protect" yourself with an STD test. You can catch the HIV virus today, and also spread it, but the test won't detect it for a while. But they should have told you that when you got tested.
I get tested every 6 months, whether I am 'active' or not.
I get blood work done to make sure I am not malnutritioned, and I tell them "as long as your taking, take some extra for a HIV test"
Insurance pays for it all.

Don't many clinics offer free HIV testing and STI screening?

LMAO...no theres no spontaneous sex before the test results are in (but since its one of the first thigns we do togehter once we decide to take it to that level...lol, its not typiclaly that long of a wait.

but belive you me...ive never had any issues with spontaneous, pasionate sex being lacking...
by the time we get to that point theres already usually a good build up of sexual tension...which when combined with that knowledge of being safe and the knowledge that im at a point where i trust the person im with...
well...i could tell stories that make some porn look mild...i dont think my sex life could ever be described as tame...LOL!

lambskin are pretty useles against stds i also know how they make them and i just cant bring myself to even consider lambskin...lol poor sheep! :P
besides, i dont need them i physically CANT get pregnant, i dont do casual sex, and my partners are always tested before hand...

i will have to look into the skyn ones, never herd of them but ive got a couple of friends who have reacently developed latex allergies that would love to hear about that option!

and my local planned parenthood has "free days" twice a month, otherwise, its $50 for the full pannel including HIV, and i usually offer to pay though ive never had a partner make me pay for their test...
i also understand there is a waiting period on HIV typically but our PP offer the rapid hiv...and the pcr tests...
I typically wont date someone whos "fresh" out of a relationship...and it takes time to build trust, so lets say i give a guy 2 months to get over his ex, plus a month of dating...tada...3 months since he was with his ex...

for me and the people ive dated going as a couple and getting tested is a huge relife, we know we can go hog wild and not have to worry about stds (or in my case pregnancy)

of course i also know there is still a risk (just as there is WITH a condom, condoms break...often! and when that happens, even the tiniest pinprick, say goodbye to std protection...) so...it works in my case

as for "those that say they do but actually dont" while im sure there are many out there...
im not one of them...
i demand blood lol

Has it been laid out in stone, what exactly is the incubation period for HIV?

6 months? 1 year? 2 years?

I once took care of AIDS patients through the Ryan White program of the mid-90's and I ran across one patient who knew he had AIDS long before he died, and couldn't test positive until the last few months.

Just remember, there are people totally immune to getting the disease.

My last partner died of AIDS, we had unprotected sex right up until the end in Sept. 1994. Why didn't I protect myself? Because I wanted to get it and die with him. No such luck! I refused to get tested while in the 10-yr. relationship, assuming all along I had it. I got tested two years after his death. Negative! Ain't that the sh*ts!!

I've know others who had been in long-term relationships with lovers with AIDS, unprotected sex as well, and they're still alive, never got it!

If you feel more protected, having you and your partners test, then go for it!
Have fun!
