Thumbs down Serial Daters

I was on match.com and was approached by a woman, that she has the 'perfect' friend for me, and we should all go out on a double date.
it turned out to be a serial dater and her friend.

What do you think about these type of people, who just date and nothing more, scam or kiss 10,000 frogs to find a prince / princess.

Jonathan

Insecurity. Or they date for social purposes, which is the bulk of the reason why people date, if being honest. It's socially unacceptable to be seen without a partner, or not to be on the hunt, so to speak.

Isn't that the purpose of dating, to date different people until you find the one that inspires you to take yourself off the market?

Even if they weren't looking for that "one", there's nothing wrong with dating different people, especially since it seems they're up front about it.

To me that would be an unusually cruel form of punishment. I can at least understand it if they're really looking for a serious relationship, but doing it for its own sake is beyond my comprehension.

"She turned out to be a Serial Dater..."
Oooh, boy. I feel shivers down my spine.
Oh, there definitely should be a movie!
Don't know why i got the images of a fine dressed lady, a chainsaw and a werewolf in my head.
"She will drink your drinks..."
"She will laugh at your jokes..."
"...And then she'll never call you back!"
Get ready to have your world shattered by...the Serial Dater.
Somebody call John Carpenter, see if he's available.

Men don't do the same thing, if not worse, in this city? You are probably chasing the "hot" women who have more options than you.

Just as every kiss doesn't have to lead to bed, every date doesn't have to lead to another. Ye gods, lighten up.

The thing I disliked was the disingenuous of it all, I'm not trying to be black and white about the issue, but to go out on a date JUST as entertainment and a free meal for a person feels like i've been scammed - It's like people who go on interviews just so they can turn down the offer to hire them.

its easy to recognize a serial dater

when the check comes most girls will say "want me to grab half?" on a first meet. i always say no (which they expect), but if i sense a serial dater (that isnt gonna put out that night) i shock her by saying yes, then never calling again. might as well save the money
