I get what you're saying STT, but then why are race jokes and weight jokes not acceptable, but then short jokes are? I will admit that I have cracked all kinds of jokes (including short ones) on men who weren't much taller than me, but since they were shorter than average they took it to offense. I would only make short jokes if I were attacked first. I used to get a lot of jokes about my big butt. When I was younger I couldn't stand it.
For crying out loud develop some levity and a sense of humor. Race jokes and weight jokes and short jokes are legion. Big butt jokes too, and you are SO missing the whole point. Take a breath, take a break and then come back onto this thread that you created and re-read it with a fresh mind in order that you might just learn something.
No, I didn't. I commented on your shortness. No one else's.
Cracking a short joke on my shortness (I am not short) is the same as cracking a race Joke on my race - i.e. it effects everyone. I am not mad, just pointing it out. I figure that if I heard race jokes everyday as much as I hear people make height jokes everyday I would be a little senile myself (I said I was guilty for making the same jokes).
I understand STT. I am not upset. It hasn't ruined my day. And I got over women and men making fun of my big butt. Times have changed, and I notice men complimenting me (sometimes not using the best words) on it nowadays.
If short(er) men didn't date, then I wouldn't have been born and grown into a guy who's 6'2 - my dad's 5'6 and my mom's 5'9.
Somehow, my mom has been able to tolerate all my dad's "short guy" complexes; for example, let's see, he's shorter than her... uh... he's shorter than other guys... um... he... well... come to think of it, he doesn't have any. Could be because he's intelligent and got his master's from Yale and doctorate from Harvard... or the bronze star for combat in Iraq... the fact that he's a moral and respectable man who treats her and his children well and leads by example. Christ, I'll probably never go to an ivy league or fight in a war.
I had a girlfriend once tell me that my dad was "really attractive" and then ask to see what he looked like when he was my age once - she was 5'8. I was taller than him when I was twelve but it sure didn't feel that way. Hell, when I mentioned that my dad was 5'6 to my best friend, who went to junior high and high school with me, he was like, "what? You're dad's 5'6? ...no way. He's gotta be like, 5'11 or something." Said best friend is 6'8 - more than a foot taller. The confidence makes all the difference in the world.
So yes, I think short men should date.
They just shouldn't date women who don't appreciate them.
