This was my first Christmas with no presents. I admit it hurt a little. Led me to thinking I was pretty alone in this new life of mine. I have many Christmases to look back on that were full of gifts and friends. I guess that's just what happens when you move cross country and change your marital status at the same time. You have to start over.

It's tough not being able to afford Christmas and all the trimmings. When I was younger and struggling, the parents always picked up the slack and provided what I couldn't afford. Then there were all the years I took care of them and picked up the slack. Now the parents are gone and there's just me and my SO left.

I guess all we can do is vow to do better next year.

I hope next Christmas will be a little less lonely for you, I'm sure you really miss your parents
