This was my first Christmas with no presents. I admit it hurt a little. Led me to thinking I was pretty alone in this new life of mine. I have many Christmases to look back on that were full of gifts and friends. I guess that's just what happens when you move cross country and change your marital status at the same time. You have to start over.
It's tough not being able to afford Christmas and all the trimmings. When I was younger and struggling, the parents always picked up the slack and provided what I couldn't afford. Then there were all the years I took care of them and picked up the slack. Now the parents are gone and there's just me and my SO left.
I guess all we can do is vow to do better next year.

I hope next Christmas will be a little less lonely for you, I'm sure you really miss your parents
Welcome to my son's world. Born December 26th. You ever try to have a birthday party on December 26th? You try to overcompensate. You end up with little sister asking why he gets twice as much. You try to move the actual celebrating to a further date, but the kid wants to have it on HIS birthdate, but can't get anybody enthused.
Dec 31 here. I know just how he feels. I havent celebrated mine in years. After a while you just say the heck with it.
Seems like christmas gift giving is going out of fashion, especially for adults.
I say good riddance. Maybe we are finally progressing to some extent.
