I was just playing that game the day before I ended up in ER. Finally talked with the nurse at 3:30 p.m. and she told me I can go for another blood draw by 4:30, which I couldn't do. Not to mention they were supposed to be done with it the previous day I was there, but surprise, surprise didn't know finding blood for me wasn't easy! Hey, anybody who's heard of the disease (i.e. me) knows about it!

If they are just taking your blood, you could go to another place of your choice and tell them to send in the results to that doctor. The biggest scam in doctor's offices is that you have to go to the lab in their building. But that's just not true. You can pick any lab in town and they'll take your blood and then send it to them.

I generally go to another lab. That was urgent because of the potential transfusion.

Every day in the United States there is a 'national day' which recognizes the most serious to the most ridiculous. There is an official list of these days.
Today is January 2 and is …Run Up the Flagpole and See if Anybody Salutes It Day

Alcohol is known to destroy the liver and brain cells; vinegar is acetic acid, the concentrated form of which can eat a hole in your skin; baking soda is a calcium product, which means you'll probably add on excessive bone mass; and even natural soaps (saponification agents) do their work by having the same demulcent constituents as lye.

Well I know my opinion on this hot-button issue is probably not going to be too popular here, but...
1) The US has some of the best quality healthcare, it's just the cost that is outrageous and it isn't available to everyone. I have family abroad and the ones with a lot of money fly over here for specialized medical treatments.
2) You can't demonize all medicine and medical breakthroughs because that is what, generally speaking, has increased life expectancy around the world. On the other hand, that opens up a whole other can of worms when you consider the fact that we haven't allowed natural selection to occur, leaving only the healthiest of the gene pool in the population.
3) The industrialized world has the fastest growing population with allergies, asthma and autoimmune disorders. One hypothesis is that the "cleaner" we are (vaccines, anti-bacterials, disinfectants, etc.) the more it impacts our health, since we aren't allowing our bodies to naturally build up immunity to bacteria and other antigens that are around us. In this case, we should all wish we were more like cockroaches, those hardy little buggers..
Just offering my personal opinion and not looking to enter a heated debate.
Hope you feel better, Temp.
Glad everything worked out for you both, SD4020 & hopedelivers.

I'm starting to think my resolution should be to quit CD.
Robee, no flaming from me. I agree with all of your points.
Sierra, I hear ya on the frustrations of dealing with doctors offices. Had something come up this week while out of town and needed my doctor to call in a prescription. After a morning of phone tag they finally did it. Then there was the insurance debacle, which was partly my fault. Forgot my prescription coverage changed and I have a new card, which is at home somewhere in a pile of mail. Pharmacy spent a lot of time trying to call them, only to be told they don't have me in their system. Now I get to deal with that mess. The prescription was a $4 generic.

True! The funniest part was the pharmacist counseling me on the medicine...take it twice a day with or without food. Haha.
