Doing researching into taking MMA classes. Not only for the fitness part of it but I think the opportunity to kick someones ass with my bare hands would be fun. Anyone can pull a gun out and shoot, lol. I have a feeling that they are going to be expensive but Eff it..I deserve it!!
Personal opinion - take it for the exercise, not the self-defense.
It was never meant to be a self-defense system - it's a sport. You might learn a few moves that could translate to the street, but it's basically wrestling with a few kicks thrown in. As such, it favors raw muscle and a LOT of ground-work - grappling, holds, etc. That stuff doesn't translate to the street very well. I'm constantly going up against guys at the club that think they're the cat's ass because they play around a little with MMA - they usually revise their thinking after a while.
Instead, if you can find it, look into something like Krav Maga - excellent real-world system with real-world testing (used for Israeli Army training), quick to learn and efficient for both men and women. No acrobatic kicks to the head, no half-hour of rolling around on the ground - just quick and dirty, which is really what you want on the street.
Hawk, Kipu Falls looks like the perfect place for a swim. Is the water warm?
I have three peony bushes, two white and one peppermint stripe. I have two big pink bushes in the front yard, but I will have to big them up and relocate them in the spring. They are in an area where we are going to widen our driveway.
That glacier pic is gorgeous. I love that kind of landscape. I am a mountain girl.
