What I was trying to say is this: It's probably a bad idea to call someone 4 times a day. That might ruin your chance with someone.

But there are other times when something you don't do might prevent you from having a date (example: not asking someone out, not acting a certain way, not doing a certain thing)

Maybe you could start a thread about proper dating etiquette. That would involve your basic dos and don'ts. Like don't just talk about yourself. Act interested in your date. Don't dump your problems on your date, etc.

Rather than taking dating advice from a 19 year with absolutely zero experience in anything let alone dating, people could do a little google search;

Proper Dating Etiquette - LoveToKnow Dating

Dating Etiquette and Rules to Follow

Proper Dating Etiquette

Proper Dating Etiquette | LIVESTRONG.COM (http://www.livestrong.com/article/158967-proper-dating-etiquette/ - broken link)

Traditional Dating Rules, Dating Etiquette and Happy Marriages...Is There A Link?

Dating Tips for Men & Proper Dating Etiquette – MetroSingles.com (http://www.metrosingles.com/dating-tips-men.php - broken link)

You can even do a little quiz to test your dating knowledge;

Quizmoz - Dating Etiquette Quiz

There's no way to win with Djuna. When I talk about myself, she calls me self-centered. When I try to give other people advice, she calls me clueless.

I'm just saying that I rarely hear about it in my circle of aquaintences. I was brought up in a family that never hit, including extended family and friends. So maybe I have had a nicer upbringing than most. I hear that when people have grown up with issues, sometimes they find those issues their whole life.
Let's put it this way. I know of NO ONE who died from lung cancer related to smoking. Not a one. But I've heard of thousands who have. So I played my cards in a safe manner and quit smoking.

Same thing here. If I feel something is going to hurt me I'm not gonna pursue it. If that makes me a wimp or a drama queen, so be it.

Good for you!

We all have our "things". I let my kids play outside by themselves and other parents think I'm nuts. *shrug* We all have a personal comfort level and we shouldn't be derided for it.

Less fortunate is being born in a slum or something. It's not being a total narcissist ignoring other people's advice that you ask for.

I meant less fortunate when it comes to dating. I didn't mean less fortunate financially.

My post remains the same. Being unreceptive to advice and being so sure you are right is *not* less fortunate.
