OK, so I thought about this tonight when I had to sit out a couple of dances, lol. The confusion that you are experiencing is due to the fact that women are not as visual as men are (though the visuals of the apes really does it for us. Yes, that is sarcasm.) Like, we're not as likely to get it on solo with the porno-mag centerfold as men are. Yes, I'll give you that. But that does not mean that we're not turned on by the male body--we're just turned on by it in a different way than you are by a female body. It's the feel of a male body that turns us on--when I can feel the maleness rolling off of a man, it's heady stuff. If you want to call that power, go ahead, but a man doesn't have to be particularly powerful to have that maleness--it's hard to explain, and then there's so much more to it than just Godfather tendencies.

What evidence are you talking about? Girls kissing girls, suggestive dancing with each other?
I have always heard that girls in their early teens, and in high school
"experimented" with other girls, but most turned out not to be lesbians, and went on to marry and have kids and be content with men. Is it in most women to try it, or just curious? Are they testing the waters to see if they like it? What ever happens. Women can do this and not be thought of as lesbians. Just being "curious". But guys that I know of dont do this. We all saw the guys that were gay in school. There was no doubt they were gay.You just stayed away from them.

Actually boys do it too, it's just a lot more secretive and less common now because it's so discouraged. And a lot of them end up being straight too.

Yeah they mainly do things like 'make out' but I don't think it's as prevalent as they make it seem. When I was in school in the early 00s it was still a bit weird for two girls to make out but like 6-7 years later it's normal and cool. Today's pop culture is so into the lesbian fetish it's crazy, I think this thread is probably mostly made up I have heard that a rising number of young teenage girls have been experimenting in same-sex orgies and sex games when they have slumber parties. Is this true? | Answerbag but even this doesn't seem that hard to believe these days.

You're gonna sit there from some distant computer screen and tell ME about what I am attracted to? Really?

Go play with lab rats...that is where you will do the most good.

Yeah women who say they aren't turned on by the male body sound weird to me. Probably not truly straight.

It's a weird hybrid of second wave feminism, male fetishism and pluralistic liberalism. It's just become hip to claim to be bi or lesbian, while it's still taboo to men a gay or bi man.
Yes, it is. The media likes to titillate and so pushes it in front of us constantly. Younger people like to rebel, so it's a perfect platform for that as well. And men certainly aren't complaining as they enjoy the show.

Whatever. It ain't my bag.

It seems mostly women who are over say 30 who are generally 'grossed out by it' but why are younger women so tolerant of it? A mix of the fear of being labelled homophobes and a society which presents it as natural while still putting down male homosexuality.

It proves it's a cultural attitude thing.

When males experiment, it is usually at VERY young ages. Women seem to experiment mainly in their teens and 20s.

This has increased though. Like I always say, women did not experiment with each other decades like they do now.

Like anything else, it's because they've grown up with it being the norm. Nothing more mysterious about it than that. Although, I know lots of older women (older than me even!) that are in lesbian relationships, and have been for a long time.

I actually personally know quite a few men in their 20s who have experimented and identify as straight or bi-curious. Mainstream society just doesn't see it.

I know a few women who have too...most of them, unsurprisingly, have boyfriends. Met one girl who identified as bi but isn't even physically attracted to women. Actually met a couple like her, in their teens.

And women and men used to experiment in the past...Kinsey said that something like 1% of men and women each identified as 'bisexual' but of course he said most of us are somewhat bi as well.

Yeah it's amazing how quickly society changes. I remember how high school girls were still pretty 'anti-lesbian' in say 2001, but now it's like cool?
