Did your parents call each other "mama" and "papa", or an equivalent term?

Do you call your spouse or S/O "mama" / "papa" (or mom / dad, or mommy / daddy, etc.)?

What do you think of spouses who call the other by those names?

My dad called my mom "Mama" even before she was pregnant with me. I think she started calling him "Papa" when I was born. Rarely did I ever hear them refer to each other with their actual names - It was always "Mama" or "Mom" and "Papa" or "Dad".

I never thought anything of it.

Well.

When my mother referred to my father in conversation with me, she would call him daddy. However, she would not use this term with anyone else present.

I have relatives who do this and personally I find it highly distasteful that they define themselves by their reproductive status.

Gag! I hate it. I know it shouldnt bother me and is none of my business, but it makes me cringe and roll my eyes. My ex in-laws did this all the time. Not only mommy and daddy but they call their children sis and bub. We are friends with a couple that does this also.

Same here. I'm guessing they all lament on forums about lack of sex, too. Well, YOU kill it! What do you want?!

I call my husband by his name unless I'm speaking to my children, in which case I'll use "daddy"

As in "daddy is going to be home soon"

My husband NEVER says my name when speaking to me. I can't recall the last time he said "hey Carly (not my real name)". Usually he just says "hey" and I come to attention, like a trained dog...so pathetic! lol

We use "dear" and "luv" sarcastically...but we use it so much that it almost is 2nd nature now.

President Ronald Reagan often called his wife, Nancy, "Mommy." For some, it's a term of endearment. Personally, I don't like it.

My wife and I started calling each other variants of that when the kids were little. We didn't want the kids to learn to call us by our first names, so we set the example. Still do it sometimes.

It has in no way had any negative effect on our sex lives. If yours depends on something so trivial, I feel bad for you.
