Actually, it acts as Second Person Plural, a pronoun that the English language oddly lacks. It is far better and more elegant than the other weird constructions such as You Guy, Youse, or All You that others must use make do.
That would be "all y'all."
However in respect to the OP I prefer neutral, but a soft southern accent like Emily Proctor has an accent I can go for. Anything much stronger than that is a turn-off. Same thing for northerners; Leah Remini's accent: turn-off
Very attrative. A southern accent on a woman gives of a degree of warmth and friendliess. Women in this part of the world seem so cold, distant and rather up themselves. The southern women I've met are most definitely more down to earth and approachable.
I think a light Southern accent on a man is very attractive , especially if he has the looks to back it up, but if the accent gets much heavier it starts to become a turn-off.
The accent on women to me is a turn-off all around, even though a light one sounds friendly. Maybe it's just because I'm not into women anyway.
Hope this doesnt offend anyone but when I think of "southern" I tend to think of Jerry Springer show types and that is NEVER attractive. "Yall" or "Yawl" is not a word and is a turnoff when I hear a woman say it.
The y'all aside....southern women are far less maintenance than Northerners based on my experience . And that, i like alot.
I was born in Mississippi. I have a very strong and pronounced southern accent. I have dated and spoken with many men from outside the south who just adored my accent. They say it sounds cute, sugary, sweet, charming, etc.
I am starting to think that men find southern accents attractive in general? What makes them attractive? If you don't like them, why not?
I, for one, am not ashamed of my accent.
What do I think of the southern accent? I don't go for the country twang, but a smooth, cultured southern accent on a pretty southern belle is one of the sexiest things on earth. Warm, friendly, vivacious....I love it.
Sorry but people who sound like Paula Deen make my skin crawl.
How about Jimmy Dean ?! (You know, the sausage guy) .
