Dear TVSG, there's pretty much something wrong you can dig up about ANY day of the week or month to not ask a girl out, so you should probably save yourself the frustration and trouble by just not doing it.

Let's face it bro, you're just gonna get pissed at her for some reason we don't know about yet, probably something along the lines of not responding to your text right away, which would mean she's a B and she's playing games by your reasoning.

That, and you can **** her off more by criticizing her for actually taking the honest and respectful route of telling you she's not interested to your face or a call/text, but hey, why get all worked up about it? You can stop yourself now and save everyone the trouble

Go ahead and go on the date. The worst that could happen is that she'll send you home with a bloody nose or a black eye and then you won't even have to worry about Valentine's Day. Go for it!

Go out with her soon, and do NOT go out on/near Valentine's Day. If you ask her for VD, you'll probably come across as some romantically desperate guy. And if you do like her after the first date/meeting, suggest something for the weekend AFTER VD.

Good luck.
I agree. I say wait until the following weekend. Keep in touch in the interim and let the excitement build.

Agreed. And if you really want to ask her out anywhere near Valentine's Day, make sure you say Valentine's Day not VD. We don't need a thread about how a couple of letters in the alphabet turned her off. Just sayin'. It might sound cool, but you'll not only sound desperate but diseased.

You beat me to it! I was thinking "NOOOOOOO you don't wanna say that!!!"

Good dating tip: never ask a woman for a venereal disease.

TVSG: Let's you and me have a little talk here. You do not want to invite her out just before VD because she will take it as a sign that you really like her and the next thing you know she'll be planning your future wedding and taking you to meet her family in the pouring rain, and then knitting little baby booties for your future 15 children that she's planning on having. Just sayin'.

You know Valentine's Day is over-rated and will cost you a ton of money. You should really step aside and let another guy have her that night.

Don't worry, V. Day lands on a Monday this year, and we all know you are too tired to date on a work night.

"Stepping up to the romance plate?" Oh, I'm sure she will be wearing sneakers or have a funny laugh, and you'll cut off all ties with her. It's unlikely you'll have a second date.

Just buy her some flowers or chocolate and make it pretty much like any other date. You're way overthinking it.
