Default Is it sick that my 47 year old sister has never had a date?

My 47 year old sister has never had a kiss, a date, a male friend or any sexual partner ever. She told us so and does not think it is odd in any way. She just never got around to dating and says many of her female friends at her age have never had a date ever also.

So is she right, is it quite common in our society for lots of people to never date or even have a kiss but are already in their forties.

(How can a person service their needs for closeness, love and sex if they don't date?)

No. It is not common. But a growing number of the population is becoming like her. Still won't be common, though.

It is not sick, but it is definitely rare. I would say it is a matter of choice.

Your sister is nearly 50 and you're just now learning this? I think somebody is bored and lonely.

And its not the sister.

Is it normal? Nope. Is there anything wrong with not having a relationship or relations? Nope, it is a personal decision.

I think she is just fine and not as unusual as you believe. If you never have something, you don't miss it and you would surprised how much of the things you think you need that you really don't. She has friends for closeness. People that don't kiss or have sex don't just simply curl up and die and can have happy and fulfilled lives.

What's wrong with being in your 40s and not ever had a relationship. She's one of the smart ones, imo.

There used to be a word for women like this: nuns. But I suspect your sister does not wish to devote her life to God. Not everyone has romantic interests, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

First you're jealous of your brother now you're wondering if there is something wrong with your sister...

Do I sense projection?
