Annie, as you know it's mostly about a mental attitude of openness, sharing, recognizing everyone has needs and most importantly for couples having a solid relationship. That mental attitude is best described by the term "The Lifestyle", swinging is such a bad label.
"The Lifestyle" comes in so many variations which fits a couples needs from Soft to Full Swap, On the Fringes, Voyeurism to Full Blown Orgies. The secret is for every couple to set their rules & boundaries.
To some degree, these swinging threads really can't be openly discussed. People not in the Lifestyle don't understand the positives it adds to relationships. People in the Lifestyle have learned to be discrete and not out themselves. We've know many couples and singles who have been in the Lifestyle for many years. Done correctly it does not lead to divorce but a healthy marriage & relationship.
It's not for everyone, it can make a good relationship great and a bad relationship worse. Most outside people cannot understand when you say there is so much more to the Lifestyle than just swapping partners. That is just a small part of the Lifestyle (but a fun part).
