Well living on a ranch yes the heavy duty does come in handy. Hitches and the like. Once in a while we have a large project.
That would be handy too.
I am in process of swapping beds on my 90 Ford Pickup. I am needing to weld up a front bumper and grill guard for this pickup too. Thinking 3/16" for the bumper. And then I will rob the grill guard that is on my 79 and put it to work.
You can build a custom one to fit your needs and or be better anyway. Those new ones have gone through the roof in price for factory. I recently checked a JEGS and about fell over. The 251 is digital as well, that accounts for it's high price. I've never hit anything yet that I couldn't do with multi pass. 95% is all with one pass. I'm looking at a new plasma cutter as well. I'm getting tired of the oxy/acetylene torch. Those new plasma cutters can cut 1" steel and even thicker like butter. Zip-zip... ching!

Plasma would be a lot of fun. If I did more of that sort of work I would think about investing in a decent cutter.
I am not impressed with the Dee Zee besides my pickup it old.
I am thinking something along the lines of this
http://www.ranchhand.com/ well I have the grill guard that is stout and with some work will be quite usable.
My son wants a brush guard for his Jeep GC (no idea why - he sure doesn't NEED one ). That site doesn't have one - only for Wranglers. Not that I'm saying I'm gonna get him one... , but if I found one at a good price...well, I might consider it.

All he needs to remember with jeeps. They are like girls. more fun with their tops off.
And (or)
Replace all the parts on them. Drive them till they fall apart. Then sell them to the teenage boys with mullets.

He better NOT take the top off. It's a Grand Cherokee.
