I think its a good thing because it shows that people are becoming more accepting and open minded. I do think it will be a bit overwhelming for the children because they have to in a sense learn 2 different cultures. Thats why I have respect for the music artist Notch because he is part Jamaican and Latino and speaks both languages and also makes great music for both Jamaican genres and Puerto Rican/Cuban genres.
Unfortunately some biracial kids tend to only absorb one part of their heritage more than the other.
Yes thats the problem because lets be honest if a white and a black person have a kid they have to choose sides you cant be both because there counter cultures thats the only problem i could see is the kid having to chose what to be.
Why do they have to choose? Why can't they just be? Everyone I know is American, not black or white. One of my best friends is mixed, half black/half white, and she has not had to choose. Good lord. Her mom is black and a lawyer who is a partner with my dad in his firm. Her dad is white and a principal at a local school. What exactly would make her culture different on one side from the other? Both her parents were brought up Southern upper middle class. They grew up in America from similar backgrounds.
I'm half South American and half Eastern European Jew and it was never stressful for me. I never had to "choose" which culture to absorb. I have absorbed both, w/o much pressure from either side of my family.
I actually benefit a lot from this because I can apply for scholarships that are for Latinos and I can also apply for scholarships for Jewish students
I feel connected to both communities, but when it comes down to it I'm American. This is America, after all.
I am from the South, but my dad is from Brazil...my mother is a Southern belle all the way...I have her hair and eyes...but his skin tone, and I am just me.

I'm mixed and I've never felt that I had to "choose sides." I feel completely comfortable with both sides of me--white and black. Choosing sides is an American thing. Race is a lot less fluid in the US than it is in other parts of the world.
Almost everywhere else choosing sides is never an issue.
What makes you uncomfortable with seeing someone like me?
Any relationship is a good thing as long as it's for the right reasons and both people are happy.
