The study, issued today by the National Center for Health Statistics, reports that 27% of young men and 29% of young women ages 15-24 say they've never had a sexual encounter. That's up slightly from the last such survey in 2002, when 22% of both sexes reported no such contact.
I would never trust a study like this since people can be very selective of what they consider a sexual relationship. Things like he/she doesn't count because I was ______ or it was at ______ (insert your own reasons, there are a million of them)
Interesting, considering I just read an article that someone posted on Twitter that contradicts that article. I'd be more inclined to believe the one I read over this one due to the fact that I can look out my door and see it happening before my very eyes. Example, ex-girlfriends 16year old cousin is preggers, meanwhile her 15 year old brother just got caught sleeping with his girlfriend at her parents house. But even the article states that you shouldn't be fooled by the report:
Philadelphia-area psychologist Michael Bradley, who specializes in teens, says despite the survey's assurances of confidentiality, young people are not easily convinced and may underreport their sexual activity.
"There is some awareness of confidentiality concerns among a lot of kids," he says. "Some (researchers) are suggesting an underreporting of some behaviors. We don't know that, but we do see kids less inclined to disclose these things than in the past."
with everyone being so fat now a days, and men without jobs, romance suddenly disappears.
